EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE: Terms and Conditions for User Access/Terms of Submission

1.  DEFINITIONS

In this Terms and Conditions, the following terms are defined as stated below:

  • EU-OPENSCREEN partner sites: are entities with scientific and technological capabilities and with service level agreements with EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC. They provide services to the researchers like screening, assay development or chemical optimisation of biologically active compounds (medicinal chemistry).
  • EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facilities: are beneficiaries of EU Horizon 2020 grant “EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE” (grant agreement ID: 823893) and entities with scientific and technological capabilities. They provide services to the researchers like screening, assay development, chemical optimisation of biologically active compounds (medicinal chemistry) or chemoproteomics and compound disposition studies.
  • EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC Central Office: is the EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC’s office located in Berlin. All processes concerning the organization and implementation of EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC’s tasks are managed by the office staff.
  • EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE project management support team: is the team of EU-OPENSCREEN managers involved in EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE activities dealing with the organization, implementation and monitoring of EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE tasks including transnational access open calls.
  • Users: the users who submit project proposals in ARIA for EU-OPENSCREEN and/or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE.
  • Visiting researcher: is a User from an academic institution or industry (including SME) who visits a host institution and is projected to perform research on the topic of submitted project proposals.

 

2.  TERMS

These terms and conditions (which form part of the EU-OPENSCREEN (www.eu-openscreen.eu) website’s legal notice) explain the terms on which you may use the website to submit proposals for access to research infrastructure, research calls, internships, grants, training or additional EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE / EU-OPENSCREEN services. Please read these terms carefully before submitting any content: by submitting a proposal, you indicate that you accept these terms and you agree to abide to them. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the site to make submissions.

 

3.  SERVICE AVAILABILITY

3.1 EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE accepts research proposals for funded access to research infrastructure from scientists in Europe and beyond.

3.2 After submission you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. Please note that this does not mean that your application has been accepted by us.

 

4.  EU-OPENSCREEN PARTNER SITES/EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE PARTNER FACILITIES VISITS

4.1 A Visiting researcher status does not convey any entitlement to statutory health, nursing care, accident, unemployment or pension cover. It is strongly recommended that visiting researchers should arrange adequate insurance cover prior to traveling.

4.2 The EU-OPENSCREEN partner site and/or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facilities management reserve the right to cancel or reschedule visits.

4.3 When using an EU-OPENSCREEN partner site and/or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facilities, the visiting researcher shall comply with EU-OPENSCREEN regulations, including health and safety requirements, presented to the researcher at arrival.

4.4 The Visiting researcher shall treat the EU-OPENSCREEN partner sites and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facilities with due care and protect these against loss or damage.

4.5 The institution hosting an EU-OPENSCREEN or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE visiting researcher shall bear responsibility for ensuring the agreed work or service is delivered in accord with the regulatory and safe working practises required by the host institution, including ensuring appropriate permissions and training are in place before work commences. EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE shall not be liable for any accidents or infringements arising from a visit.

4.6 The Visiting researcher agrees to the publication of scientific results obtained during research infrastructure visits, acknowledging EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE funding under H2020 or any other funding the user might have received through EU-OPENSCREEN activities.

4.7 The Visiting researcher may submit reimbursement applications for travel and accommodation costs up to the amount agreed upon with the EU-OPENSCREEN partner site and/or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facility in advance of the visit, given that original receipts being submitted.

 

5.  APPLICATIONS FOR RESEARCH CALLS, INTERNSHIPS AND RESEARCH GRANTS

5.1 In order to apply for research calls through EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE, you must open an ARIA account. Your user profile should be kept up-to-date, e.g. reflecting changes in host laboratory and contact details if you change position.

5.2 Transnational access rresearch calls are announced on the EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE website, and notifications are sent by email to registered users for whom we have a valid email address. The closing date for applications will be given in such notifications.

5.3 Applications are made by submitting a proposal via the ARIA online system, using a modified online form specific to the selected options.

5.4 EU-OPENSCREENs and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVEs eligibility and evaluation criteria including procedures for appeal are explained in the EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE open call information. 5.5 By submitting an application, you represent and warrant that you are employed by an accredited scientific organisation and that your research proposal contains only information which is true, accurate and complete.

5.6 By submitting an application via the ARIA platform, you grant to EU-OPENSCREEN a revocable and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works of and otherwise use and disclose the content for the purposes of evaluating the research proposal and assessing the feasibility of conducting the proposed research at the requested facility. In addition, you grant to INSTRUCT-ERICa perpetual and irrevocable licence to store a copy of the research proposal for its records.

5.7 EU-OPENSCREENand EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE will use its reasonable endeavours to keep research applications and proposals confidential and will only disclose research proposals to those third parties for whom it considers access reasonably necessary to perform the evaluation described at clause 6.4 and bound by a non-disclosure agreement or where required by law.

5.8 Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the proposal evaluation by email.

5.9 The names and country of residence of successful applicants will be displayed on the EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE website in the public domain, and may be shared with funding bodies upon request.

 

6.  ALL SUBMISSIONS

6.1 Where you are required to complete a registration form in order to access restricted parts of the site or specific services, you agree to:

(a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information; and

(b) to maintain and promptly update your ARIA profile to keep it true, accurate, up-to-date and complete.

6.2 If EU-OPENSCREEN or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE has reasonable grounds to suspect that any information supplied for the purposes of clause 3.1 is untrue, inaccurate, out-of-date or incomplete, EU-OPENSCREEN reserves the right to suspend or terminate your registration and any access you may have to restricted parts of the site or any and all services.

6.3 EU-OPENSCREENor EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE acknowledges and agrees that it obtains no right, title or interest from you (or your licensors) under these terms of submission in or to any content that you submit, including any intellectual property rights which may subsist in that content (whether those rights are registered or not, and wherever in the world those rights may exist). The user acknowledges and agrees that the user isresponsible for protecting and enforcing those rights and that EU-OPENSCREENor EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE has no obligation to do so on user's behalf.

6.4 The useracknowledges that:

(a) the userhas received good and valuable consideration in exchange for any applicable licence and that you are not entitled to any further compensation for any use by EU-OPENSCREEN or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVEof the content in accordance with that licence; and

(b) EU-OPENSCREENor EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE may, without notice to you, reject, refuse to use or delete any content at any time where it considers this to be reasonably necessary.

 

7.  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

7.1 The useragree to acknowledge EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE funding and any other funding you might have received through EU-OPENSCREEN activities in all publications and presentations arising from research carried out at an EU-OPENSCREENpartner site, following instructions and text available in the EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC acknowledgement policies.

 

8.  OPEN ACCESS TO JOURNALS AND REAGENTS

8.1 EU-OPENSCREENand EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE strongly advise that workarising from research carried out at EU-OPENSCREEN partner sites or EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facilitiesis preferably published in open access journals and that all publicationsare deposited within the repository set up by your university or institution. If you have questions about repositories please contact the EU-OPENSCREEN central office at office@eu-openscreen.eu or the EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE project management support team at drive@eu-openscreen.eu.

8.2 Users are expected to make available the reagents generated during visits to EU-OPENSCREEN partner sites and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE partner facilities upon request.

 

9.  DATA MANAGEMENT

9.1 EU-OPENSCREEN data management is defined in the  EU-OPENSCREEN Data Management policies for both its users and facilities.

 

10. REDISTRIBUTION OF REAGENTS

10.1 EU-OPENSCREEN has established a policy for Distribution and Sharing of Material by both its users and facilities which can be viewed in the EU-OPENSCREEN Distribution and Sharing of Material Guidelines.

 

11. PRIVACY POLICY

Personal data relating to your proposal submission will be stored securely according to GDPR regulations and will be used for the purposes of processing your application, peer review, communications and managing the services. Details of the name and home country of successful candidates may be published online at the EU-OPENSCREEN and EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVEwebsite, and distributed to Funding bodies upon request.
